Holidaying at Home with a Caravan

During difficult economic times, the thought of holidays is a stressful one for many. After all, with the recession forcing everybody to tighten their belts and many people finding they have less and less cash to spare for enjoyment, who can even afford to go on holiday anymore?

That’s why the notion of ’staycationing’ came into play in the UK, an idea that basically means holidaying at home. Many Brits are discovering the excellent holidays that can be had when they cut out costly flight and accommodation fares – and it turns out that the UK has a great deal to offer. Being of impressive diversity across the entire country, no two cities are alike and, if you enjoy experiencing a brand new culture and arts scene, the chances are all you have to do is drive for an hour or two and you’ve found it.

You can save even more when it comes to planning holidays this year if you either have a caravan or are thinking about investing in one. Caravans are a fantastic opportunity to transport all of the necessities for going on holiday to your destination – including your beds. No matter where you want to go on holiday, you’ll always be assured of somewhere to sleep and, best of all, it won’t cost you a penny to do so.

Whether you want to head to caravan parks or set up camp in the countryside (check for legalities first!), your caravan is the ideal transportable accommodation that will let you head off on holiday for a week, two weeks or more and not pay any heed to extortionate overseas hotel costs.

Holidaying at home may not seem all that appealing until you think about how little most Britons know the UK. Has everybody visited the gorgeous Dorset coast, the thrumming streets of Manchester or Leeds, the awe-inspiring Scottish Highlands or the jaw-dropping edges of Wales, where dynamic precipices prevail as cliffsides drop down into angry oceans? There’s so much to explore in the UK, and the recession has finally given people the opportunity in which to do so.

Choosing to invest in a caravan could be one of the momentous decisions you’ll always look back on making as one of the best or, if you’re lucky enough to have one, blowing the dust off the roof, checking the wheels and updating your caravan insurance may be the best way for you to battle the recession and enjoy some fantastic cheap holidays.

Travel to Europe’s Magnificent Capital Cities by Train

Boasting approximately 50 countries to discover and offering up a diverse selection of cultures and landscapes, Europe is filled with a number of remarkable cities and stunning stretches of wilderness. Cited as the birthplace of western culture, it forms one of the seven continents of the world and is surrounded by the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, and the Mediterranean and Black Seas.

Due to its close proximity to the UK, Europe is an ideal travel destination for those looking to escape on a short break. Indeed, offering up a number of different locations, all sited within a few hours of Britain, there’s a wealth of exciting cities and environments to explore.

With so much to choose from, though, it can be hard work figuring out which part of Europe to head to. However, offering up some of the best cultural treats in the world, as well as a superb range of iconic landmarks and sights of interest, the major capital cities are a great starting point.

The world’s top tourist destination, Paris is a definite must-see. Home to a huge array of cultural attractions like the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, the French capital also offers up a packed annual events programme. Due to its unique charm and famous sights, over 30 million people flock there each year.

Amsterdam, on the other hand, is ideal for those looking to take some time out and escape from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities. Filled with a jumble of canals, parks and quirky architecture, there’s a lot to discover in this historical capital city. The Museum Square is the site of Amsterdam’s most influential museums and, as such, is well worth visiting.

When you go to book your trip to Europe, whether it be to one of its lively capital cities or a more remote part of the countryside, there are a number of travel options to chose from such as flying, driving, or taking the ferry. However, because of the advantages to be had, it can often be a good idea to travel by train.

In fact, eliminating the need for having to make stressful travel arrangements, the train can help you to maximise your holiday time. For example, you can choose to travel by day, where you’ll get the opportunity to soak up the stunning scenery as you journey throughout Europe, or at night, where you can sleep in comfort and arrive at your destination fully-refreshed.

Not only that, but with a lot of the trains reaching speeds of up to 186 mph, you can reach many parts of the continent within a few hours of leaving the UK.

Owing to the many enticing Europe travel deals on offer, millions of people head there every year. There’s a wealth of cultures and landscapes to explore and with accessible travel options like the train to choose from, everyone has the opportunity to discover all that’s on offer, regardless of whether they’re looking for a luxury or budget holiday.
