Myrtle Beach resorts have some of the best golf in the world. These are the picturesque links along the Atlantic Ocean – made famous by the Ryder Cup and the Worldcom Classic on the PGA Tour, and they attract golfers from all over the world. The best part about Myrtle Beach is that most of the golf courses in the region are public all year, even resort courses. Thanks to this very open policy, Myrtle Beach and nearby areas like Charleston and Hilton Head Island see over a million golfing tourists hit their shores every year. These are courses designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio and the infamous Robert Trent Jones.

To learn more about some of the best Myrtle Beach resorts and connecting golf courses, keep reading.

Harbor Town Golf Club

Any list of South Carolina courses has to begin with this classic Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus collaboration. Bring plenty of golf balls and even more money for the near $200 green fee.

Harbor Town is tight and tree-lined with water hazards guarding several of the fairways and tiny, bentgrass greens. Ocean breezes are always a factor too. Most of the resorts in the surrounding Hilton Head area offer golf packages that include this fantastic course.

Kiawah Island Resort and Golf Course

Pete Dye was given prime oceanfront land and told to build the toughest, most spectacular course he could to test the world’s finest players at the 1991 Ryder Cup. He did exactly that. Half of the Ocean Course’s holes butt up against the beach. The wind can be brutal and peril awaits every shot. But somehow, the course is great fun.

Golfers can stay at the beautiful Kiawah Island Resort that’s connected to the course. Accommodations are luxurious, but also pricey, so be prepared. The resort is a bit further from Myrtle Beach than the other courses listed here, but it’s definitely worth the travel time.

Pawleys Plantation

Built along wetlands in lightly populated Pawleys Island south of Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Plantation is far different than most resort courses. Originally a country club, Pawleys Plantation is somewhat secluded in a tranquil location dissected by a huge wetlands area that’s part of a wildlife preserve.

Out of all the most popular Myrtle Beach resorts, Pawleys offers the most authentic South Carolina experience alongside some of the best golf. If you’re looking for a slower pace away from the crowds of Myrtle Beach and more in tune with the state’s strong heritage, you’ll find it here.

Opportunities to take a family vacation with all family members can be difficult to coordinate. You need to think through a number of creative ideas to come up with a location and activities that all find to be a fun vacation. But what if you’re going alone and love to golf? Then Myrtle Beach should be one of your considerations.

RV’s, or recreational vehicles, are a very popular means of travel – sort of a camping on wheels. Not only do they come in many sizes and styles, but they serve as a great way to see the country without having to make hotel reservations, buy plane tickets, or spend a ton of money to vacation in style.

With an RV you get the comfort of your own home, yet can take it and its options wherever the roads lead.

By traveling all of the country you will see many of the sights that you’ve longed for, and can simply keep on going if you do not feel like staying at one particular destination. With family and friends together in your RV, you have a lot of time to spend together enjoying the scenery along the way.

Conveniences can be Costly

RV’s already hit the wallet hard, so there is built-in incentive to minimize expenses once on the road. Most contain all the modern conveniences of your own home, such as a fully equipped kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Some even have extra amenities that may include a built in television, surround sound stereo, and more.

The main down side to this wonderful mode of transportation is that they can really break the budget when it comes to fuel. RV’s do have larger tanks, averaging around 55 gallons in capacity, but the larger RV’s use a great deal of fuel.

Even the smaller ones can put a dent in your wallet if you are on an extended trip. That doesn’t even take into consideration the electrical usage drawn by many of the extra amenities.

Doing the Little Things

While fuel and electricity usage are a normal part of a recreational vehicle expense, there are ways you can lower your costs so you aren’t breaking the bank every time you take a family vacation. Simple steps like turning off the lights while traveling during the daytime can help you save money and maximize your electric usage.

The same can be said about appliances; if you do not need them, they should not be left on. Look instead for alternative methods of power such as the sun to provide light in the RV during the day. By buying an RV that can use solar power you will considerably lessen your cost on electricity.

Solar modules can easily be installed if you do not have them available to you. They are used to charge the RV’s batteries so that you are not expending all the electricity. This can mean additional and significant savings on your fuel, which is quite expensive almost anywhere.

Attention to Basics

Another way to save on fuel costs is to routinely change your oil and make sure you get a thorough tune up when needed. Attention to these details keeps the RV running very efficiently to save you money in the long run.

By understanding what it takes to run an RV and maximize efficiency, your purchase and subsequent use doesn’t have to be as expensive as you might otherwise think.
