I went to Paris at the weekend for the first time since I was a small child. Needless to say, the hazy memories of standing in front of the Eiffel Tower were not really enough to go by and before I visited Paris this weekend I couldn’t have really told you the first thing about it. Now I feel like I’m a Paris expert!

Firstly, I really have to comment on about the choice there is with regards to beautiful paris apartments. Particularly in the 15th arrondissements there are plenty of small but compact apartments to chose from, make sure you get the perfect one for you. I stayed just outside Montmartre, perfect because this is where I spent most of my time – in the Sacre Coeur!

The Sacre Coeur is enormous and made out of white stone. It can be seen from the Eiffel Tower and is really something to see. It is simply a lovely experience climbing the steps up to the entrance with the sun shining on your back, then you turn round to a stunningly clear view of Paris, a view which I probably will never forget and thought about for hours back in my paris accommodation.

However, perhaps the best thing about this church is the mosaic inside the dome. I was impressed beyond words with this and it was certainly a moving experience to stand below it. From the back of the church, the huge mosaic of Jesus Christ with his arms open appears as though he is standing up straight and looking down on the congretation. Yet from the front of the church by the alter, you realise that the dome is curved and the talent it must have taken to make the mosaic appear like this is astounding.

This experience is bound to be moving in so many ways, not least of all because of the beauty of this church but because of the candles you can light to remember loved ones who have passed away. Something that I particularly liked about the Sacre-Coeur was the fact that all the decorations, mosaics, statues and carvings were tasteful and not over the top. Finally, do not forget to look at the beautiful stained glass windows.

Morocco holiday

Morocco is the must see destination for many world savvy travelers who want an experience that will remain with them for years to come. Morocco is not a small country, and occupies 446, 550 sq km – more if you choose to include the Western Sahara.

Imagine the scents and sounds of this captivating African country with over 33.2 million people where you will find medinas (shopping areas) and some of the most spectacular landscapes you will ever see. Historically Morocco has always been the “in between country”, a crossroads of sorts in the midst of Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

If you want magic, Morocco is the place to see and be. Visit the mysterious cities of Casablanca (move over Humphrey Bogart), Rabat and Essaouira. While some of the names may be hard to pronounce, the cities themselves are open and welcoming visitors from abroad. Time stands still in these locations and it is hard to tear yourself away from the intriguing sights and sounds. Alternatively, you may also love Marrakech Riads and Cape Town accommodation which both have a who host of culture themselves.

Travel the coastline and stop into small picturesque towns as you admire the mountains of the Rif. Ahhh the delights of puttering along in a dynamic country at your own unhurried pace. This will be a place you will never forget. Listen to the delightful blend of the languages spoken in Morocco – Arabic, French and Berber.

Morocco borders with Algeria and Mauritania. The Algeria border is closed, but Mauritania is open but with no public transport. You might want to private hire a vehicle to explore. Make sure you have your money changed into Dirhams (Dh), which is the local currency. For instance one US dollar equals Dh 8.5.

When you arrive you will receive a 90-day visa for most nationalities, but check with your travel agent prior to leaving in case you need something different. If you want to enjoy the hot weather then make plans to arrive in Morocco between June and August. If cooler weather suits you just fine, then head there for November to February.

Personally, I just love the different contrast you get from visiting a wonderful country such as Morocco. There is literally so much to see and do here that you can quite easily just lose yourself in the moment and just zone out into nature and see how the other side of the world live. Amazing stuff!

The state of Arizona has so much to offer and now with Arizona airfare being so cheap in the shoulder and off-peak seasons you really should visit and discover the state. You may want to tour the Grand Canyon with the beauty of nature showing you just how persistence and time can change something into a true thing of beauty. Or you could want to tour some of the outstanding galleries the state has to offer with the rich history of the Native Americans, Hispanic culture and western culture all available in different locations.

This is a great way to discover your Phoenix vacation. The Heard Museum in Central Arizona is a must see for everyone interested in the heritage of the area. Here you will be exposed to some of the best in traditional and modern American Indian art. There are 10 exhibition galleries that include five long-term and five changing exhibitions with two different locations for you to tour.

While you are visiting the Central Arizona area you may wish to tour Pueblo Grande Museum which is an archaeological site museum and repository. The focus of the museum is enhancing the knowledge of prehistory, history, and ethnology of inhabitants of the Southwest. The museum is located at a 1,500 year-old Hohokam village ruins. You can observe reproductions of the prehistoric Hohokam homes when exploring the ruin trail. At the site is also some of the last remaining intact Hohokam irrigation canals. This is a fantastic piece of Hohokam history.

A few hours to the southeast, you will find wonderful Tucson vacations. Travel on down to Tombstone where you can experience the Old West. Tombstone is known as “The Town Too Tough To Die,” and is the most famous of Arizona’s historic mining camps. This area produced millions of dollars of gold and silver throughout a 7 year period. When you are touring Tombstone you will have the opportunity to visit Boothill Graveyard, the old Tombstone Courthouse and watch many of the residents dressed in period style.

Near Tucson you can visit the Titan Missile Museum which was home to one of the Titan II Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles. There were 18 Titan II missile sites located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. The Titan Missile Museum is the only Titan Missile site that remains intact; all the others were destroyed. You can take a guided tour that takes you into the launch control room with a simulated launch and then travel on through the 200 ft tunnel for an in person look at the Titan II missile. It’s an awesome tour, be sure to make time to stop here.

Travel on over to Yuma and tour the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. Here you will be able to visit the prison that housed 3,069 prisoners, 29 of whom were female. The prison was last opeartional in 1909 before the prisoners were moved to a new facility. Today you can visit the prison and see the front gate that is so familiar to anyone that has watched western movies.

Everybody loves to travel and take vacations. In fact, most adults live their lives from one vacation to the next. They get through the daily grind by remembering and telling others about the vacation they just took or thinking about and planning the next vacation they will take. I don’t even want to think about the lost productivity from all the time talking about, dreaming about, thinking about, and planning of vacations on company time. Good thing I am one of those people dreaming and planning and not one of those losing money because I am being less productive – ha ha ha.

One way to get a free or almost free vacation is to plan a trip to a city where you know somebody. If they have a house and a guest room, you may be able to stay with them and save a bunch of money on hotel costs. I know it isn’t really glamorous, but if it is somewhere you want to go and you can stay with a friend for free, why not do it?

Another way to get free vacations is to look for promotions when you buy other products. For example, lets say you are looking to buy a new or used car. Some times, car dealerships have promotions where they give things away to new customers. Now, you probably don’t want to wait around until the car you want has a free trip with it, but if you know you want to buy a car some time soon and the local dealership happens to run a promotion where you can get a free trip for buying car, why not do it sooner rather than later. Another promotion I have seen is businesses giving a free vacation away for listening to a sales presentation. This is similar to the time share example I mentioned above and I personally use it to encourage people to listen to a presentation I make about Ambit Energy by giving them a voucher for a free 2 night hotel stay at their choice of vacation destinations. Ambit Energy also rewards customers with the same 2 night hotel stay so people who listen to my presentation then sign up to save money on their electricity or natural gas bill, get 2 vacations. Look around and pay attention to special offers and you can get a lot of stuff for free, not just travel.

One of my favorite ways to get free travel and other rewards is to sign up for programs that give rewards for doing something you do anyways. Many credit cards are available today that give rewards points for making purchases. If you were to pay all your bills with credit card then pay the credit card every month instead of paying the bills directly, you can earn vacations or other great stuff very quickly. If you travel frequently, you can sign up for frequent flyer miles and get more free travel. Virtually every airline has this program. Many hotel chains also have this rewards point program as well. There are even energy companies like Ambit Energy that give customers rewards points for paying their electricity or natural gas bill. Sometimes you can even combine rewards programs so your hotel stay and your airfare give rewards points to one common account.

These are some simple ways to travel for free or save a bunch of money on your vacations. If you look around there are other ways. One possibility is to become a free lance writer and do hotel or resort reviews. You will have to work on finding a publication that wants to publish your stuff, but they may either pay for your trip or pay you directly for your articles. If you are diligent, you can save a bunch of money and get some great trips. Good luck on getting your next vacation paid for by somebody else!

When

Taking place on Wednesday the 19th of November, ladies should take note of this date and place it in their agenda as this is an event that you don’t want to miss.

What is it?

Apart from being a popular show, Sex & The City’s success is based of a mixture of creativity and reality. It’s worldwide fans absolutely adore this element and aspect of the show and now it’s their chance to take this further by attending it’s first ¨Shopping Party¨ taking place in Rome. The Eternal City will act as the party’s beautiful backdrop in the breathtaking location of Villa Mercadante which is situated in the centre of the city.

The concept behind the shopping party is that there will be approximately 20 exhibitors from the creative sector industry such as designers, artists and photographers who will have the chance to showcase and sell their products. The catch here is that all of these exhibitors are entirely made up of women, this has been done in order to truly honor the theme and main characters of the Sex & The City Show.

What’s On Show

More interesting to know is that all of the products that will be in show are creations that are not easily found in ordinary shops around the world. Be prepared to encounter products such as women’s apparel, accessories, jewelry, paintings and as well as home furnishings.

You will also witness live performances at the event as well as being treated with relaxing lounge music while sipping on colorful drinks. The main theme of the event is to merge creativity, entertainment and the business aspects in the industry all under one roof.

Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, an autonomous community of Spain. The Catalans, fervent defenders of their language, culture and traditions, normally define their identity as Catalan before Spanish. Make sure you visit this fantastic city and book your accommodation Barcelona!

La Sardana, a traditional dance, forms part of their surprising folklore which is still alive today. The participants form a circle, take each other by the hand and dance to the sound of the tamberines, wind instruments and rustic flutes. Els Castells is another very famous tradition. These human towers require alot of skill and an almost blind trust in your partner. For many, it is a symbol of courage and the solidarity between Catalans.

Catalan, together with Castellano, is the official language of the community. Keeping the language alive is one of the most important aspects for the catalan people and with regards to the situation of bilingualism, Catalan is the language most used here. Therefore, making an effort to learn the basic vocabulary for conversation in Catalan would be very useful if you are considering coming to Barcelona, as a mark of repect. It is also the first step to integration.

With regards to the typical Catalan character, from a general perspective, it is said that you have to really get to know the person well to find out. Catalans generally steer away from superficiality and prudency, but after the first impression and once you really get to know them, “the Catalan” can normally be a loyal and very fun kind of person. It could also be said that the Catalan character is a species that consists of a mix between good (seny) and excessive (rauxa). You just have to look at Gaudí and Dalí to see this! Make sure when you come to this wonderful place, you stay in a apartments in Barcelona or a hotels in Barcelona

Without doubt, it is necessary to make a point here about the negative aspect about the authorities which failed to put, (even though it had been asked for by practically the entire population of Barcelona), a giant screen in the street during the European cup final between Germany and Spain. The majority, aware of their Catalan identity, do not deny their Spanish nationality… It is a shame that the inhabitants did not insist that the victory be celebrated until the early hours of the morning. Las Ramblas, la Plaza Urquinaona, la Plaza España and la Plaza Catalunya were literally invaded by supporters of the Spanish team!

Are we there yet?” “Mom, he’s touching me!” “Well, she’s looking at me!” “Are we there YET?” “I’ve gotta go!” “Aren’t we THERE YET?”

It’s phrases like these that drive fear into a parent’s heart, and make you wonder why you ever thought taking a family vacation was going to be “fun!”

So what is a parent to do? Traveling with kids doesn’t have to be a bad experience. Instead of deciding to leave the kids home for the next “family” vacation, relax! You can make traveling with the kids an enjoyable and stress-free experience by following these simple tips:

1. When possible, travel at night and let the kids sleep. But be cautious, because it’s easy to get tired. If you find yourself getting sleepy, roll down the windows, play music, or better yet, find a safe place to pull over and take a 20 minute nap.

2. Plan your trip during the day with stops about every 90 minutes. By planning ahead, and using travel planning software, online trip planning sites or travel associations, you can find — and stop at — kid-friendly places such as parks with playgrounds, historic monuments or view areas where everyone can get out and walk around for a few minutes. Giving the kids even a 15 minute break will give them a chance to “get the wiggles out” and work off some energy.

3. Bring along some sing-along music. Although your kids may groan at first when you start singing, they’ll soon join in, especially if the songs are either well-known, absurd or “gross.” Think of your own childhood favorites, or camp songs. Singing can really help to pass the time, and creates happy memories later on. To help cut costs, you can even record your own CDs? If the kids don’t know the words, create sing-along books for everyone by typing them in your Word processing program and printing them out.

4. Create a goodie-bag. Good ideas are travel toys and games, bubbles, inexpensive art books and pencils, even the latest in collectible cards or action figures. (To save money, look for seasonal sales or buy something every payday.) To cut down on arguments about sharing, you can set a time limit for playing with each game, before everyone has to switch. Individual presents can be wrapped or not, and given out at whatever schedule fits your needs and your kids’ boredom levels. You can even choose particular games for particular stops, such as bubbles, Frisbees or small balls, which will encourage running off energy.

5. Bring along individual “quiet time” activities. These could include an art box (keep the supplies inside an inexpensive plastic shoe box), postcards or writing paper, or even a journal given to each child at the beginning of the trip. Encourage them to write letters, or record their thoughts and feelings. You can also bring along hand-held games, or inexpensive CD players and earphones, so that everyone can listen to the music or books of their choice. Depending on the space you’ve got and the length of time you’ll be gone, each child could have their own box or backpack, to keep their things organized and accessible.

6. If your trip is going to include a lot of sightseeing, pack a backpack with sweaters, hats, swimsuits (if in season), extra socks and even towels, in case anyone gets wet — accidentally or on purpose. Keep the backpack in your trunk, so you can just grab it and go. Most kids, if given the chance when near water, will really enjoy getting wet, and it saves on the wear and tear of your vehicle if you plan ahead. Also be sure to pack extra water and travel snacks such as energy bars, nuts or travel mix. You can add to your child’s enjoyment if you also include things such as a magnifying glass, binoculars, a disposable camera and their own travel map.

7. Include a “kid’s activity” at least once every day. This may be something as simple as going for ice cream after visiting a museum, or going to a water or amusement park. There are often lots of great free or inexpensive activities in most places in the States. To find them, you can check ahead of time with local Chambers of Commerce, on city Websites, or with your travel agent. To help keep the expenses down, don’t forget to check for “two for one” coupons, or discount tickets that are often available at local fast food restaurants or in local papers. Also, many family style restaurants offer a “kids eat free” night, which could be a special treat.

8. Don’t forget about the travel games you probably played as a child. There is “Letter Bingo” where you look at road signs and billboard ads to find the letters of the alphabet, or “License Plate Alphabet” where you go through the alphabet in order. You can also create easy bingo sheets that you print out with clip art of common sites you’ll see on your trip. Your kids will be more inclined to play along if they know that your parents used to play the exact games with you. (Grandparents are SO much cooler than parents are…) Have you tried Shark Cage Diving

9. Let your kids help to navigate, narrate and create information about your trip. There are so many great resources online these days that can help you make your trip even better. Letting your kids get involved helps to make it more enjoyable for them. For example, let one child be the “trip navigator” each day. They have the responsibility of looking at the map, and making sure that the right exits are taken, or how much farther to each destination point. (If you really want to get creative, the navigator could wear a special hat or badge; the narrator could have a “press badge” or carry a reporter’s notebook, etc.) Older children can create written entries into a journal or even in a Blog, talking about the daily activities and sights. Another option is to bring along an inexpensive tape recorder, and let each child record their impressions of the different places you see or things you do. Younger children can draw pictures, or use a disposable camera.

10. Start collecting postcards. Postcards are inexpensive, and your kids will enjoy getting to send them to their friends or other family members. Postcards are also a great addition to your family photo album after the trip. You can cut them up, or even write about specific experiences on the backs of them, to help everyone remember what you did and where you went. Have you tried Shark Cage Diving

11. Create a scrap book at the end of each trip, using the postcards and pictures the kids took. Letting them help to decorate and put the journal together is a fun after-the-trip activity.

12. Above all, give yourself a break. There is no such thing as a “perfect” family vacation. Inevitably there will be things forgotten, things broken or other “unexpected” problems.

By planning ahead, and making every effort to get your kids involved in the trip, and giving the things to do to keep them occupied and interested, there will be less stress and everyone will have a better time. Have a great trip! Have you tried Shark Cage Diving

Traveling with your parents can be a wonderful experience if you plan well ahead. Here are five things you must do to ensure that you and your parents will have a great vacation. You can get them to try Shark Diving though this will scare them!

1. Ensure that the itinerary is not too fast paced.

Old folks tend to get tired easily and thus it is not advisable to include activities that are too strenuous. It is also not advisable to pack too many activities in the itinerary such that you and your parents have to rush from one place to another.

2. Ensure that everyone has ample sleep

Plan to have at least six to eight hours of sleep for you and your parents for each day of your vacation. Try to avoid having any more activities after 11 p.m. Prepare some hot water for your parents to soak their legs before bed time if there is a fair amount of walking in the day.

3. Have ample supply of their medication

If your parents are suffering from diabetes, asthma, hypertension, high cholesterol or any other illness, make sure you obtain ample supply of medication from their doctors to last for the whole trip. To ensure that you remember to bring the medication, create a checklist of things to bring and put their medication among the top five items on that list. As a safety precaution, ask them to carry a medical record of their illness and contact details in case you are not around when they need medical attention. You can get them to try Shark Diving

4. Healthy diet

Most old people do not take heavy meals and thus you need to plan for multiple light and healthy meals that are low on salts, oil and sugars but high in fiber. Always have a sandwich or high fiber biscuits in your bag in case they get hungry and there isn’t a snack bar in the vicinity. Also make sure that you and your parents drink a lot of water to prevent dehydration.

5. Bring along a first aid travel pack.

Your first aid travel pack should contain medication for fever and diarrhea, cold symptoms and giddiness. It should also include a thermometer, tweezers, sharp scissors, safety pins, adhesive bandages, sterile gauze, adhesive tape and antiseptic wipes. While this list is not exhaustive, the stocks in the travel pack should be enough to cater to most conditions that require general first aid assistance. Do check the expiry date for those medications that you bring along to ensure that they are safe for consumption.

Traveling with your parents need not be a hassle as long as you plan ahead and take care of their needs. Involve them in all the activities along the way and remember to have fun! You can get them to try Shark Diving

The Lighthouse and Keeper’s House at Heceta Head date to approximately 1894, and they are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Perched high on a cliff more than 200 feet above the beach below, the Heceta Head Lighthouse beam can be spotted more than 20 miles out to sea. The view from the Lighthouse is spectacular, and the Lighthouse itself is an incredible sight when viewed at night.

Visitors can take guided tours of the Lightouse and Keeper’s House at Heceta Head during the summer months, and by special arrangement at other times of the year. An observation area at the Lighthouse is open during regular park hours year round. There is a Gift Shop on site as well where visitors can browse a wonderful assortment of signature gifts, nautical-themed items, books, clothing and much more.

There is an interpretive center at the beautifully restored Queen Anne style Keeper’s House, and a B&B here offers guests the opportunity to stay at the Keeper’s cottage overnight.

Air Travel Tips for the Holidays

With the holidays approaching, more and more people are making preparations to be with their families. These plans most generally include airfare at least one way between destinations. This surge in flight reservations can create major traffic jams inside airports as travelers have to follow stricter security rules when flying.

In an effort to help your trip go more smoothly, here is a list of air travel tips that will make it much easier for you to get through airports with greater ease, and help you have a much more enjoyable flight.

Heightened Security

Since the terrorist incidents of September 2001, airports around the world have implemented greater security measures than ever before. While there are a great many air travel tips on each airline’s website that will give you information you need about these new rules, here are a few of the most important ones.

As part of our list of air travel tips, however, we do want you to know that it is important for you to visit the website of the airline you plan to fly with in order to view the entire list of items they do not allow you to carry. Although there are several items which are federally and internationally prohibited on flights, each airline also has a list of extra things they won’t allow.

The most important of all air travel tips is to be certain that you allow plenty of time to get through airport security. At least two hours is recommended by most airlines; and if you are flying out on the day before a holiday, three may be better.

There are many checkpoints throughout each airport – to check your luggage, points to check your carryon bags, and points to check the very clothes on your back (quite literally, in some cases). The best air travel tips recommend getting to the airport three hours prior to your flight, especially if you have to pick up your tickets at the airport. This will allow you plenty of time to get through all of the security checks.

The last of our air travel tips, is to wear slip-on shoes, and only a single layer of clothing. This will allow you to get through security checkpoints much more quickly than if you have to take the time to take off jackets, coats, and lace-up shoes. All of these items have to be run through x-ray scanners, so not wearing them can make it a much quicker process for you.

Compromise Is Essential For Cheap Last Minute Travel

There could be a number of reasons why cheap last minute travel is so appealing, like a quick getaway to relax or even due to a death in the family. Whatever your reason may be there are several avenues to pursue in your quest for cheap last minute travel. Keep in mind that you have to be willing to compromise on certain aspects of your trip and the fact that your train or airline seats or even location of your hotel room may not be the most prime location.

Going Against The ?Rules?

It may seem weird, but you might want to book your trip early even though the prices may not be the best that you can get. However, make sure that your hotel reservations or your airline tickets are fully refundable. As your travel time approaches, you can still search for cheap last minute travel deals. The reason is that if you do find a better deal, then you can request a refund for your previous booking and go for the cheaper deal.

In order for the above scenario to work in garnering your cheap last minute travel package, you must apply for your refund before a certain deadline. In addition, when you do request a refund, there may be a penalty fee for doing so; therefore make sure that you are still coming out ahead on your cheap deal, even when paying that penalty.

Flexibility Is Key

Securing that cheap last minute travel deal may mean traveling in the middle of the week rather than a traditional weekend. If you are able to get time off from work at a moment?s notice then this type of cheap deal may be quite advantageous.

Check for places within a few miles of your actual destination as travel to those peripheral locations may be significantly less than traveling to a major hub, whether it is the airlines, bus, or train. Another cheap last minute travel deal may be found with cruise ships that are setting sail for the first time or even for repositioning cruises where the ship switches to another route for the upcoming season.

Alternatives To The Straight Shot Travel

You may create your own cheap last minute travel deals by searching for flights to and from your destination rather than for a round trip ticket. You pay for convenience with a round trip ticket versus the cheaper avenue of booking your to and from ticket separately. Search different airlines as well because prices may fluctuate depending on the route the airlines are taking.

Traveling to a destination off-season is another way to obtain cheap last minute travel and you will reap some benefits like less people crowding the tourist sites. Compromise is essential when you are searching out those cheap last minute travel deals, whether it is via the Internet, the newspaper or some other means.

Traveling the skies means that you will have to become quite savvy in learning how to book last minute air travel. Whether you are flexible in planning a vacation getaway or you have to travel for business with just a day or two notice you can still get great deals – if you know where to look. While you may have to pay higher than normal prices for some last minute air travel, you still have options for snagging better rates.

Where and When to Go

Most airlines consider any flights booked less than 14 days in advance as last minute air travel and will start to drop their fares on certain flights that they do not feel will fill up in time. You can benefit from this by subscribing to email newsletters from travel agencies as well as the airlines themselves to learn of low rates and flight availability.

If you just want to get away to a sunny location and originally thought Jamaica sounded good but discovered that last minute air travel to Mexico was more affordable, you can book it! Flexibility in this instance is important and if you are willing to shift your priorities a bit, you can get some great deals in this fashion.

How to Find the Deals

Travel aggregate websites that search the internet for the best last minute air travel deals will likely be your best bet in snagging a flight. Sometimes, going to the airline website will not produce any seats on the flight you want but an aggregate travel site may because some of them pre-purchase blocks of seats on flights in the hopes of re-selling them.

Sometimes, your credit card company offers travel services to customers and can often find flights and deals that you would not normally find on your own search. The credit card company has connections that you do not have and they may even get better rates, especially if you have accumulated points on your credit card you have not used.

Don’t discount regular old travel agencies in your hometown when trying to book last minute air travel deals. As agents, they have access to flight information you could not pull up yourself and can even find regional air carriers to get you to your destination more quickly and cheaply too.

You have one final option for finding a last minute air travel deal and that is visiting auction sites for available tickets people may have up for sale that they cannot use. Of course, you plug in your travel parameters and you make a bid for your tickets. You will not have much say in what airline it is that you will be traveling or even the number of layovers you might have. However, these auction sites will likely have the last minute air travel deals you need to get you from point A to point B – you just may not like the exact itinerary you get.

When the internet is your primary source for searching for last minute air travel, be sure to pull up several different quotes for your travel plans. That way you can compare not only the price but the options you receive along with the deal.

You Never Know When You Might Find A Last Minute Air Travel Deal

You?re leaving on vacation and you still don?t have your airfare tickets. What are you going to do? Or maybe you just found out that you need to fly somewhere and you are just now getting around to searching for tickets. Either way, most people assume that if you?re buying plane tickets last minute that you?re bound to spend loads of money. That?s just not true, however, because there are many last minute air travel deals just waiting for you. All you have to do is search for them. You can call your travel agent, you can call the airlines directly or you can search online. By remaining vigilant and by exhausting all avenues, you are bound to find that last minute air travel deal that will get you the tickets you need for much, much less than you?d ever imagine.

Why Offer Deals?

Why would airlines offer last minute air travel deals? Well, airlines like to fly at their maximum capacity. The more tickets they sell, the more the airline makes. Therefore, if the plane is about to take off and the airline can fill a few more seats, even if they have to cut the prices a little to fill those seats, then everyone is happy. That?s why many airlines will offer last minute air travel deals. They want to fill those seats because those empty seats are missing revenue for the airlines.

Travel Agents

Travel agents are there to do the leg work for you. By calling them up and telling them when you would like to leave, and return, and where you?d like to go, they will be off trying to get you any last minute air travel deals they can find. Their job is to find the best deals possible so that all you have to worry about is packing and showing up at the airport on time.

Calling The Airlines

By calling the airlines directly, you can often eliminate the middle man and thus you could potentially spend less money on last minute air travel deals. The airlines want to fill those seats and will do it any way they can. If they have to lower the prices, then so be it. In their eyes, more seats equals more revenue and they?d rather have you in one of those seats than to see it remain empty. So call the airlines and ask them if they have any last minute air travel deals.

The Internet

And finally, the best way to go about finding deals of all kinds is to search the internet. There are many travel sites up and running that boast the very best last minute air travel deals. So log on and start hunting for that ultimate deal that will have you flying for less in no time at all.

Finding Last Minute Cheap Travel Can Be Exciting

Spontaneity is supposed to be a good thing and when someone ends up with unexpected time off work or a sudden windfall of cash, they may begin to think about last minute cheap travel opportunities to get away for a while. Depending on the time of year and the preferred destination there is usually a good chance it can be found, as many places have sudden cancellations and anxious to have a full plane of hotel, will offer last minute cheap travel deals to keep their bookings full.

If you are one of those that can leave at the drop of a hat, sign up to receive offers from travel agencies that often come up with last minute cheap travel deals to some of the more exciting destinations. You can choose the place you want to go and when deals open up can be one of the first to be notified. It should be pointed out that these last minute cheap travel packages are only available for a short time and you will have to jump on them to take advantage of the offered savings.

Being flexible with you itinerary also hopes seal last minute cheap travel on airfares as the majority of people prefer to fly out after nine in the morning and return by nine or 10 at night. By being able to leave on an early morning or middle of the night flight, better airfares can usually be realized. It may also result in few delays on departure and return flights.

Minor Inconvenience May Equal Big Savings

It is no secret that most air travelers are not excited about delays or making multiple stops along the way to their destination. Many are willing to pay a premium price to be able to fly at their leisure and establish hard schedules that they are willing to pay extra to receive. Non-stop flights may be possible for added costs, but many of the last minute cheap travel flights will include two and maybe more stops along the way, but the trade off can be a hefty discount for the ticket.

Airlines often work in harmony with hotels and resorts to offer special fares for passengers hitting a hot vacation spot. By booking the flight and hotel together, most people are able to save perhaps several hundred dollars over booking them separately. Especially with last minute cheap travel deals, the motel and airline are typically included at prices that can reflect a savings of 30 to 40 percent and sometimes more.

When something comes up and you have to travel at a moment’s notice, it can be harrowing to try to make all of those last minute travel preparations that come with the deal. We’ve brought together a team of international travelers who have put together a list of the best ways to make certain that you are never caught unaware if you have to make a spur of the moment trip.

Regardless of whether you are traveling in country, or out, there are a number of things that you will need to remember when making last minute travel plans. In order to make certain that you don’t forget a single thing, mark these tips down somewhere you can easily find them, and put them into effect today. Never be caught unprepared for last minute travel again.

Get Your Papers in Order

One of the most important last minute travel preparations you can make is to be sure that you have all of your papers in order. This includes driver’s licenses, passports and visa, insurance cards, and even birth certificates aren’t a bad idea. Always make copies of these important documents and have them placed in your hotel’s safe, just in case something happens to the originals. You don’t want to be stranded in an unknown location without any proof of who you are.

Packing Tips

Your last minute travel preparations should also include having someone help you to make certain that you aren’t forgetting anything when you pack. If you are in a hurry when you pack, it is really easy to forget some seemingly unimportant items. While these can usually be easily replaced, the cost can really add up if you have forgotten more than one or two things.

A good way to prevent this from happening when you have to make last minute travel plans is to keep a list handy of all the things you need when you travel. You can also keep a small suitcase packed in a closet, filled with all of the little things that you need when away from home. This way, all you have to do is pull it out, add some clothes, and you’re ready to go.

Last minute travel plans don’t have to leave you in a panic. Just remember to keep a clear head, and to follow all of the lists you have made yourself, and you will find that it is much simpler to make last minute travel preparations than you may have originally thought.

The Best Places to Find Last Minute Travel Bargains

When things happen, there are simply times when you need to find those great last minute travel bargains that can really save your skin. Whether you need to get just a few states away or you travel plans need to take you to a different country entirely, there are a great many places where you can easily get last minute travel bargains.

Take a Deep Breath

For starters, when you need to find last minute travel bargains, the first thing you need to do is relax. If travel agents and ticketing companies know that you?re desperate, they may charge you more than necessary, and take advantage of your desperation. Instead, always present yourself as cool, calm, and confident. If you come across as being clear headed about the travel plans you need to make, you will be more apt to find better last minute travel bargains than if you seem desperate.

Call the Airline

Instead of calling a travel agent, whose job it is to sell you the biggest package they can, call the airline you want to fly directly. Often you can get great last minute travel bargains on flights with empty seats by calling the airlines directly, simply because they want to fill as many of these seats as possible. Try to get on a flight that is leaving relatively quickly, as empty seats cost the airlines money, and they want to fill them as quickly as possible.

Usually the last minute travel bargains that you can get by calling the airline directly will save you hundreds of dollars over what you might normally pay for a flight. Also, if you don?t need to travel today, but can wait a day or two to get on a plane; ask to be notified of any last minute cancellations. Airlines will generally be willing to call you at home to let you know of a cancellation, if you are willing to leave with only a few hours notice.

Discount Motels

For great last minute travel bargains on accommodations, try looking into making reservations at one of the major discount hotel chains. These hotels almost always have rooms available, and are great places to get rooms at a reasonable price for last minute travel.

As you can see, it isn?t difficult to get great last minute travel bargains if you know where to look. Just keep a clear head, and you?ll have no trouble getting a great price on your last minute travel bargains, too.

A family emergency pops up on the other side of the country and you have to be there by tomorrow morning. Driving is obviously out of the question so you need to do some sort of fast travel that can get you there overnight or by the morning. The bus is out because of the time and the train just may not be fast enough. So what do you do?

You cannot afford to pay the outrageous fees that airlines put on to their last minute travelers but you need to get out to the coast. You need to find some last minute travel discounts and you need to find good and reliable sources for last minute travel discounts. So where can you find a good last minute travel discount that is not going to break your bank and get you where you need to go? Check out these options.

The Internet

Probably the best place for a last minute travel discount is a site on the internet. Many of the travel sites offer last minute travel discounts that can help out travelers and they are usually legitimate offers that are for a very affordable price. So how is an internet travel site able offer a great last minute travel discount? It is the way they do business that makes them both a risk when you are really planning a trip but a godsend if you need a quick last minute travel discount.

Internet travel sites get their rates usually one of two ways. They either buy seats on flights, or hotel room reservations, in bulk and in advance so that they have them available right up until the last possible minute. Many internet sites also work very closely with hotels and airlines to help them fill in seats and rooms that would have otherwise gone unused. If a hotel has an available room that they cannot get reserved they will usually give that room at a discount to the internet travel sites for them to sell.

The same goes with an airline and an empty seat on a flight. Sometimes it will wind up on the internet and if your timing is right then you can get yourself a great deal. Some no frills airlines offer services where they will let you know when they have openings at the last minute for a discount. Check their websites for details.

Travel Agents

A travel agent is not as likely to have a good price on a last minute plane ticket as an internet site or the airlines themselves would have but it never hurts to ask. Sometimes a travel agent will be stuck with seats on a plane that were part of a vacation package that did not sell out. If that is the case then you can negotiate with the travel agent to get one of those tickets at the original buying price which is significantly lower than the last minute price.

Spontaneity Needed For Last Minute Travel Packages

If you are spontaneous and love to go on trips to different places, you just might be able to find some last minute travel packages. When you do not have a destination in mind and you just like to get up and go there will be no problems finding a great price for last minute excursions. You just have to know where to look to find these last minute travel packages that can save you hundreds of dollars.

Check The Airlines For Deals

Living within driving distance of an airport, you likely have a good idea of the most popular airlines that fly in and out of your city. If you hop online and visit their individual websites, be sure to sign up for their email newsletters that will send you notices of last minute travel packages, often before they publicize them on their website! The packages are not always just for airfare but also for hotel and rental car and in some instances, admission to some attractions.

With these last minute travel packages, you will likely find a few weekend trips that leave on a Friday and return on Sunday or leave Saturday and come back Monday. However, the cheapest packages will likely leave mid-week, usually on the airline?s slowest days, and return on another slow day for the airline. If you have a flexible work schedule and can make allowances for some of your daily commitments, last minute travel packages like these can be taken advantage of.

Travel Agency Deals

Last minute travel packages are available through travel agencies as well and you will find a variety of options like cruises, honeymoon packages and more. Sometimes, travel agents will have a client who cannot go on a trip at the last minute and perhaps they need a way to recoup some of their cost. Some of these agencies will offer last minute package deals that have airfare, rental car and hotel and others may have cruise packages.

You may even find travel agencies who specialize specifically in last minute travel packages at a discounted rate. Sometimes, these agencies will purchase surplus airfare, hotel or cruise cabins and then resell them to people like you who are looking for a great deal. Check the agency website or even the Sunday newspaper travel section for some of these deals.

Cruise The Internet

The Internet offers a plethora of opportunities to nab last minute travel packages and all it takes are a few search parameters to find them. In fact, there are quite a few travel consolidator websites which scan the internet for you based on your search parameters for last minute travel packages and will give you a number of options to peruse. These websites can vary in price by several hundred dollars so always check at least three of them to compare similar last minute travel packages in order to get the best price.

A seven day Caribbean cruise, a package deal for hotel and admission to Disneyworld, a trip for two to Paris ? there are a ton of last minute travel packages to choose from as long as you know where to look.

Save Money with Last Minute Travel Specials

Vacation dangerously and wait for those last minute travel specials to start popping up on the internet to save big bucks on your trip. Many people successfully book their vacations on the fly and save hundreds and even thousands of dollars on occasion by learning to be flexible and ready to go at a moment?s notice. Heck, even business people who have an urgent meeting called at the last minute can find last minute travel specials to suit their needs.

The Ins and Outs

Do you know why airlines, hotels, cruises and other travel and hospitality entities can offer last minute travel specials? The reason is that their ultimate goal is filling their vacancies any way they can, preferably by charging full price. When they cannot do so, they offer these last minute travel specials to customers like you so that they do not completely lose out on an empty seat, room or cabin.

You can get rock bottom prices with these last minute travel specials, especially if you like to live dangerously and wait until the last possible moment. Many airlines consider last minute to be up to two weeks before a departure date and that can mean saving big for business people scheduling last minute trips. As for those of you who are traveling for pleasure, it means that you either have to schedule your vacation time off work in advance and just hope for the best last minute travel specials or you be flexible and take time off once there is a great deal you just cannot pass up.

Where to Go to Find Them

Finding these last minute travel specials is easy but the challenge is comparing several deals and deciding which one to take. For this reason, aggregate travel websites that search the internet to bring you many selections for comparison may be your best option. You can save quite a bit of time over visiting multiple airline websites as well as hotel websites to find the best deals. Be sure however to go to more than one aggregate website searching for the best last minute travel specials as each one will present offers to you that vary as much as hundreds of dollars.

Of course, if you earn frequent flier miles or frequent hotel points, it would pay off for you to subscribe to those various newsletters because members often will be presented with last minute travel specials that no one else in the general public is offered. Membership definitely has its rewards in this instance and should be considered if you anticipate traveling more often.

Taking a cruise works in much the same way in terms of taking advantage of last minute travel specials. Look in your local newspaper?s travel section each week for deals or even the cruise line websites, especially if a port is located near your home. Just like hotels and airlines, cruise ships do not like to set sail with empty cabins so you could possibly nab an outstanding cruise package for nickels or dimes on the dollar.

To maintain your frugal ways, you have to be diligent and make searching for money saving travel deals a part of your daily routine. Check your email daily and bookmark those travel aggregate websites that offer the best last minute travel specials. Your efforts will eventually pay-off with a fabulous trip with a ton of perks and amenities at half the price.
