Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Arizona and Nevada is an outstanding natural area to pursue outdoors activities on and off the water. It is a huge Park that includes both Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, plus mountains, canyons and desert landscape.
Lake Mead is a very large man-made lake that is suitable for a wide variety of water sports. It is 110 miles long and reaches a maximum depth of 500 feet. Fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking and waterskiing are all popular activities that are enjoyed at Lake Mead.
There are plenty of activities to pursue off the water at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Campgrounds, lodges and other facilities line the shores of Lake Mead. Hiking, camping, horseback riding and picnicking are all available. You can watch for and photograph wildlife, star gaze, take a scenic drive or simply relax along the shores of the lake.
