Atlantic Expanse

Does this rhyme?

He was a bold man
especially unlike others
He sailed into the expanse
of the South Atlantic Ocean.
Is it alright?
Or if not, i could use span instead of expanse, but then it doesn't make sense.

Should i use span or expanse?

Remember, it has to rhyme.

ok let us see... it does and it doesn't. here's my kick at it...

He was a bold man
unlike so many others
Sailing the vastness of the ocean
braver than all his seafaring brothers

it not only rhymes now, but has a better rythym. and rythym can make or break rhyming poetry a lot. good luck with further attempts.
