Strangers touching baby!!?

ok, is it just me or is it super annoying when strangers insist on touching your baby when saying hello to them?

When my 6 month old son and I are out, whether he be sitting in the pram or shopping trolley, strangers approach him and say hello, he flashes a smile at them and then they touch his leg or tummy or face!! Before I can even say or do anything!

I know most of them are good intentioned and being friendly but I don't know where their hands have been. I also know there are pedophiles and such out there too.

the problem is I don't want to be rude either .. does or did anyone have this problem and how did you combat it?

I agree with you, I HATE people doing this!
I come from a small town, and everyone is super friendly. However, they think it gives them the right to just act like they own my daughter. I have had people remove my sons dummy's to "give them a smile" ( god knows where their hands have been!), to actually picking up my babies out of their prams and holding them without asking me first.
Drives me insaine. For a while there when my daughter was really little, I would just put the shade a babe sun cover over the pram, and that did deter people a little. Now she is 8 months old I just let them go. To be honest, she does love the attention, and most of the people doing it I "know" anyway ( even if it is just a little.) I try to just see past how annoying they are being, and look at it positively. They think my baby is cute, that can't be a bad thing, can it?
