During difficult economic times, the thought of holidays is a stressful one for many. After all, with the recession forcing everybody to tighten their belts and many people finding they have less and less cash to spare for enjoyment, who can even afford to go on holiday anymore?

That’s why the notion of ’staycationing’ came into play in the UK, an idea that basically means holidaying at home. Many Brits are discovering the excellent holidays that can be had when they cut out costly flight and accommodation fares – and it turns out that the UK has a great deal to offer. Being of impressive diversity across the entire country, no two cities are alike and, if you enjoy experiencing a brand new culture and arts scene, the chances are all you have to do is drive for an hour or two and you’ve found it.

You can save even more when it comes to planning holidays this year if you either have a caravan or are thinking about investing in one. Caravans are a fantastic opportunity to transport all of the necessities for going on holiday to your destination – including your beds. No matter where you want to go on holiday, you’ll always be assured of somewhere to sleep and, best of all, it won’t cost you a penny to do so.

Whether you want to head to caravan parks or set up camp in the countryside (check for legalities first!), your caravan is the ideal transportable accommodation that will let you head off on holiday for a week, two weeks or more and not pay any heed to extortionate overseas hotel costs.

Holidaying at home may not seem all that appealing until you think about how little most Britons know the UK. Has everybody visited the gorgeous Dorset coast, the thrumming streets of Manchester or Leeds, the awe-inspiring Scottish Highlands or the jaw-dropping edges of Wales, where dynamic precipices prevail as cliffsides drop down into angry oceans? There’s so much to explore in the UK, and the recession has finally given people the opportunity in which to do so.

Choosing to invest in a caravan could be one of the momentous decisions you’ll always look back on making as one of the best or, if you’re lucky enough to have one, blowing the dust off the roof, checking the wheels and updating your caravan insurance may be the best way for you to battle the recession and enjoy some fantastic cheap holidays.
