Is there any truth in this question American Miltary?

A common phrase you hear in Europe is that the american army is the worst trained but best equipped army in the world.

Please don't mention special forces, i just mean the regular front line troops.

Some fluff to guide you. I saw a video a few years ago shot by a friend of mine in Iraq (he is an MOD official). It showed a group of American soldiers shelling an area with pin point accuracy. They punched numbers into a computer and away the shells went. Then the computer malfunctioned and the all just stood there looking at each other.

There was a German tank commander who during the latter stages of WW2 said, "I can destroy ten Sherman tanks for the loss of only one Tiger, but ten more shermans take there place and i don't have any replacements.

Do you think that they rely to much on technology which when it breaks down can leave them stranded.;

Up until a couple months ago I served in the US Marine Corps, which is compared to all the fighting forces in the world in the top 3 along with the Royal Marines and Republic of Korea (south) Marines, Which all very commonly train together. During my 7 years in, the most technology I used was night vision goggles, a communications system and even got to use a GPS once during combat operations. We are the best equipped in the world, yet we are very highly trained as well. The example you used with the artillery system, I am familiar with it. The reasoning behind that is that it was a new system that was implemented into operations. The shells were not regular shells, they had a guidance system in them. The crew could have fired off the rounds but not with "pinpoint" accuracy through a window, but more of an area target. But those shells are also much more expensive than a standard shell, and probably knew they would be in trouble if they wasted them. Could they have changed out the shells to a standard and fired it manually, of course, but they also don't travel with just one cannon, if a need for ordinance came, others could take the call.
